Tolerance in the Middle Ages

 

Your homework is broken down into weekly tasks. It isup to you to get the tasks completed by the deadline andmanage your time appropriately.

 

Your work should be presented in a plastic wallet or folder in the correct order and each piece should be clearly named. (If you don't have a folder or wallet, I will provide you with one – just ask!) Work will not be accepted far in advance of this date.

 

Week 1: Newspaper Article

Write a newspaper article about a crime that has taken place in the Middle Ages. Include information about the crime that was committed, quotes from witnesses or the victim, how they were tried and punished.

The article should take up one side of A4 paper. This can be typed or handwritten. A template is available if requested.

 

Week 2: Information Leaflet

The year is 1543 and you work as a printer in a large town. The Mayor has asked you to design a leaflet informing people of the punishments that the authorities are using to keep order on the streets. You must include at least 5 different punishments with pictures and an explanation why this might be used. Also include a wanted page for people accused of petty crimes and what their likely punishment will be if captured.

 

Week 3: Storyboard

Produce a storyboard or a written description of what happened at a witch trial. Show everything from the accusation of suspect to the inevitable punishment.

The storyboard should contain at least 8 boxes and captions. A template is available if requested.

The written description should be at least half a side of A4 paper typed.

 

Week 4: Diary Entry

Write a diary entry of someone living through the Salem Witch Trials. Explain what happened, who was involved, how you felt at the time. Do you agree with what is happening or are you scared?

The diary entry should be at least half a side of A4 paper.

 

Set on: Friday 6th May

Due in: Wednesday 8th June (First Hums lesson back after half term)

 

Homework will be accepted on a memory stick for downloading or can be emailed in if printing at home is difficult. Your name MUST be in the subject box. Email attached work to:Miss Hathorn

 

N.B. Missing or incomplete homework should be handed in as soon as possible or will made up during student's own time whether at lunch time or after school. Exceptional circumstances MUST be accompanied by a letter or email for Parent/Carer.
